Frequently Asked Questions

We're all about having fun but we're also all about your safety and making sure you have an amazing experience. So here are some important things you need to know...

  • What is the age requirement to rent jet skis?
Drivers must be at least 16 years old. Anyone under 18 years old (driver or passenger) must have a parent/legal guardian present to complete waivers.
  • How many people do your jet skis hold?
Our jet skis can hold up to 2 people, as long as the combined weight of all riders is under 325 pounds. We do not allow switching of drivers or passengers on any of the jet skis. Children must be at least 55 lbs, their feet should reach the footwell floor of the jet ski, and they must be able to hold onto the driver. The Trixx is for solo riders only. The weight restriction for all jet skis is 325 pounds.
  • What should we bring with us?
All drivers must have a valid driver's license or photo ID with them. It is not required but we also recommend bringing the following: Water Shoes - you will be boarding a floating dock and flip flops can be slippery. You can also ride barefoot. Sunscreen Towel Sunglasses - available for sale if you don't want to risk losing your good ones! Dry Bag - available to rent.
  • What should I wear?
A bathing suit, swim trunks, t-shirt, whatever you're the most comfortable in. We recommend water shoes but you can also ride barefoot.
  • Where is the riding area?
Our main riding is in Stoney Creek between the Fort Smallwood Rd bridge and the mouth of the Patapsco River.
  • How much experience do I need?
No experience needed! We will provide all the training you need to operate a jet ski and complete the temporary certification needed to rent. Per Maryland Law, you must be able to read and understand all waivers and safety information. It also requires you pass a Safety Exam in order to receive temporary certification to operate a jet ski.
  • Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are not required but we HIGHLY recommend booking in advance to guarantee your jet ski. Also, we sometimes make the call to open late or close early if we don't have any reservations.
  • When should I arrive?
The time you book is your arrival time for check-in. For example, if you book a noon rental, you will arrive at noon. We are located on the ground floor of the marina office (look for the Breakwater Adventures sign). At check-in, you will sign waivers and complete a written safety test. We will provide all demonstrations, safety information, and lifejackets. Please arrive on time as time for these required procedures will cut into ride time for late arrivals.
  • Is there parking?
Nabbs Creek Marina offers free onsite parking, as long as you do not park in any spots reserved for slip holders. We are located on the ground floor of the marina office (look for the Breakwater Adventures sign).
  • What if I need to cancel?
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. No refunds will be given for cancellations made within 24 hours of your rental and no shows will forfeit the entire rental fee.
  • What happens if the weather is bad?
If there is severe weather, we will contact you to cancel (with refund) or reschedule your rental. We do not cancel for light rain or chance of storms.
